20/20

Not being able to see clearly isn't always about the capabilities of the retinas alone. Vision is also affected by the skin around the eye socket. If the skin is loose and sagging, it can impede the clear line of sight that the eye requires to receive an image.

Particularly with age, the skin of the upper and lower eyelids begins to sag. This may block parts of the retina, causing an individual to believe they may need glasses. But before you buy your first pair, check if it's not actually your eyelids that are giving you poor eyesight. Visit your optometrist and gently press the skin of your upper eyelid upwards and look around while they're examining you; if you've got 20/20 vision, glasses probably won't be the best solution to your problem.

That's why some people who undergo blepharoplasty, a cosmetic surgical procedure to correct the appearance of saggy eyelids, do so not just for aesthetic reasons. They view the procedure as a practical solution to their poor eyesight.
